Rahne was the product of a triste between Reverend Craig and a lady of the evening, one that the Reverend desired to keep hidden. That struggle defined Rahne Sinclaire, a young mutant for whom region had given both purpose and pain. One of the most iconic stories, God Loves, Man Kills, is a battle between a man whose religion hardened his heart and a young girl whose religion drove her compassion. The X-Men have not shied away from the multifaceted nature of religion. Those experiences have let me meet some of the most caring people in the world, alongside some of the most hateful, all of them wearing a cross around their neck. I was raised in the church, went to religious private school, played guitar in a worship band through out college, and I am still a practicing Christian (I am also technically an ordained reverend but that’s a different story).
It can tear families apart, punish the disenfranchised, and treat good people like they are the scum of the Earth. It can bring communities together, take care of the downtrodden, and give people a sense of purpose in a chaotic universe. Teams Affiliation: New Mutants, X-Factor, X-Force About.

This power really shows off what Rahne has been capable of in more current comics. This lent itself well towards the Countdown tile mechanic in the game, causing the One Woman Wolf Pack ability to place multiple Countdown tiles on the board that each go off on different turns dealing additional damage. The imagery of a wolf pack attacking an opponent is one of several wolves leaping in for a strike in sequence instead of just one powerful attack. We wanted to represent this in the game since it’s an extremely cool ability, but it took a bit of finessing to make it feel awesome. More recently, she’s gained the ability to split into multiple wolves to hunt down her enemies. This speaks to her hunter aspects used throughout her runs in the comics. However, her overall HP is low, so she works well in more of a hit and run aspect, with her making attacks when no major abilities are incoming and using the other half of her Rend ability, Silent Retreat to stay invisible and avoid enemy attacks. For a new player, her black ability Rend is capable of dealing with PVE waves pretty quickly. In MPQ, Wolfsbane is a damage dealer that serves as a great back line attacker while paired with a tanky front line. Thus, this version of Wolfsbane was born. With some characters, this comes out in creation as multiple different versions of them, but we pushed more towards creating one version that embodies the character over time. We had to distill radically different versions of her throughout the years. What’s more human than a mutant that can explode into 5 hive-mind controlled wolves?ĭesign-wise, Wolfsbane was a difficult character to create. It’s interesting to bring characters to life that are more human than some and provide rich stories to tell with their personas in-game. As a result, she faces a lot of personal demons as she goes about her life and work.
Unlike some other characters, Rahne’s upbringing was a very difficult one. Rahne Sinclair was an interesting character to bring into the Marvel Puzzle Quest universe.
